John visits AK

My good friend John came to Alaska for his spring break. He actually leaves this Saturday, but we have taken so many amazing pictures and I have had a few requests for a new post that I decided I'd post. I am just having too much fun in Alaska to post...oh and the fact that our internet at our apartment doesn't really work. This past week has been absolutely amazing. I am so glad I could give John a SUPER fun spring break...and get a little fun out of it myself!

So here is what I have been doing the past couple days, I know all of you have been DYING to read this.

John arrives in AK so of course we have to go stand on a frozen lake...why would we not? Rachel, John, and I proceeded to take lots of pictures at Delong Lake that is right by our apartment. I still had my school clothes on, hence the khakis.

The next day was Rachel's 21st plus 2 birthday! (She and I are still coping with turning 23) We went to Moose's Tooth, an ice skating show, and ate delicious banana cake.

On Saturday, we woke up "early" got coffee, scones, and then headed off to the dog sled races. They were in downtown Anchorage and it was awesome. We also walked around downtown and saw ice sculptures.

That night we went to Bear Tooth to eat dinner. This is my all time favorite place to eat in Anchorage. I got my all time favorite rosemary burger and cilantro fries...I was happy.

Sunday morning we went to church and then decided we needed a hearty breakfast so we went to Snow City Cafe. They have the best fresh bread and homemade jam. After we had digested our food a little, we went on a hike along the coast. It was a gorgeous day and wasn't that cold thankfully. We had the whole crew with us...Jolene, Erik, Reeses, John, Rachel, and me! We got some great photos.

Monday had to be the best Monday of my whole life. We woke up early and went out to Hatchers Pass with Mrs. Medlock. The four of us were going on a ski biking/sledding/cross country skiing adventure. We had a TON of fun until we decided to sled down the treacherous mountain. I was not a happy camper. We decided the perfect way to end the day would be to get Moose's Tooth (yes we are addicted) and hot tub. It was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day and I could not have had more fun.

Then the greatest thing EVER happened. We decided to go drive around at 10:30 on Tuesday night. We drove up the mountain to Flattop. There were a ton of cars up there which was weird since it was so late at night. We got out of the car and looked at the mountains. Above the mountains were the Northern Lights. We almost died. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. God is incredible.

Wednesday consisted of a yummy bagel breakfast and then some snowboarding/skiing time. I don't have any pictures of this because they are on Rachel's camera and she is in Guatemala. Then we took our last pictures with Rachel with Barbara the Burb.

It is unreal all the fun we have had. We made a list when John got here and we have accomplished everything on it even some stuff we didn't think we would. I am SO glad he came to visit. I am going to miss this place when I leave in May.

I'm obsessed.

I have officially become obsessed with the website I posted about last week...it has become a problem. SO GET EXCITED because you get to see some more of the adorable pictures I found on it.

I thought this was SUPER cute. Later I read the fine print under it on the site and it said this was a doll. Cutest doll I've ever seen.
Dinosaur in a cup. Why not.
I want to go camping in this tent...just not in Alaska.
I LOVE HARRY POTTER. I wish Hogwarts was real.

I'm a big nerd.

I love the fact that blogging has taken off. I LOVE following friends and family. It is the best way to see into people's life and keep up. I was reading my cousin Molly's blog (The Cooper's) and she posted some pictures from another blog Dirty Pretty Things. I really liked it so I decided to post a few of my favorite pictures from it.

cutest.thing.ever.

Who wouldn't want to live here?

I love reading and I love this.

I have recently become severely addicted to coffee since Alaska has the best coffee I've ever had. I also have a new found respect for latte art and when I saw this I had to repost it.
This is the COOLEST coffee mug ever.

My Alaska To Do List

I got back to Alaska a week ago exactly and I thought it would be fun to do a post revisiting my bucket list for Alaska. I am the queen of documenting every single memory with pictures as all of my good friends know so of course there will be a picture with each one! I haven't completed all of them because I haven't had the chance yet. I'm only going to post the ones I have done. I'm also adding a couple things to the list. Ok so here is the list:

4. Take a picture of a bear and moose

5. Ski (I've only cross country skied)

6. Snowshoe to somewhere cool

7. Fish for salmon/halibut/trout

10. Climb a mountain

11. Ice Skate

12. Do something adventurous i.e. ski biking

When I look back at all this awesome stuff I did, I can't believe that I ACTUALLY moved to Alaska. It has been an amazing experience and I still have 5 months to experience more!
