SILLY BANDZ!!!!

I am a four year old on the inside. I love Disney movies. I love being goofy and silly. I love just being a kid. So logically I love silly bandz (bandz NOT bands...there is a huge difference). I don't know if you are on the silly bandz train, but I am for sure. I found a huge pile of them at the pool one day and I was forever hooked. I have five of them...

A pig
Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
Glow in the dark turtle
Glow in the dark moose
flower/blob
The moose/reindeer is my favorite.

You should get some. They will just make your day better.

I just cleaned my room and now I am wasting time before I have to go to work. I follow several blogs that post wedding stuff like pictures and ideas. I am not planning a wedding so don't worry. I just really am starting to enjoy photography and I love looking at pictures. I got on a google frenzy and found some super cute pictures of babies. Here are a few of my favorites:

Happy Thursday! :)

Things I miss...

I am in a sentimental mood right now so I thought I'd post about things I miss. If you haven't noticed by now, I really enjoy lists. I always post in lists. I feel like it adds sanity to my chaotic life. I probably always post in lists, but maybe one day I will branch out and use some other method to organize my blog. So the list begins of things I miss...

1. Italia
I was just looking through all my 3,000 pictures I took in Italy and I realized how much I miss it. Those 5 weeks were the best 5 weeks of my life. I met my best friend in the whole world, I grew up, and I had the adventure of a lifetime.

2. 3695 and the girls who lived there
I love these three girls. They made my senior year perfection. I can't explain how much they mean to me and how much I miss each and every one of them. I miss and love each one for different reasons. We had some of the best times in 3695 and I will never forget that year with y'all.

3. Abby
Words cannot express how thankful I am for this girl. My little 18 year old bestie from Houston. I'm pretty sure we hung out every day last semester and I wouldn't have changed that for the world. You are one of the greatest people I know and I am so blessed to have you in my life. LOVE YOU ABBBBS!

4. A&M in general
As lame as this saying is, it is the only way to truly explain the experience I had at A&M: "From the outside looking in, you can't understand it and from the inside looking out, you can't explain it." I love this school. I love it so freaking much. I miss football games, tradition, ring day, Aggie Muster, and every Aggie that I met during my four years there.

5. Pi Phi (yes, I'm a dork)
I am the 9th Pi Phi in my family. Yes, it is ridiculous. I LOVED being a Pi Phi. I met over 200 girls that changed my life in so many different ways. I met all of my best friends through Pi Phi and I will always love the colors wine and silver blue.

A lazy Sunday...

I figured I would give a random update on my life since I haven't posted in a while. This will just be a random group of stuff I have done over the past couple weeks.

To start off...

1. Fourth of July
Yes, I am just now posting about this. Yes, I posted something on the 6th. My fourth of July was laid back and simple. Maggie and I went out to the Shoemaker's house and shot off some little fireworks. They live out in the country so we just sat outside and watched every one else shoot off fireworks. The highlight of the night was definitely doing sparklers.

2. I am rereading all of the Harry Potter Series.
This is super exciting. I LOVE HARRY POTTER. I don't care if you think I am a nerd; they are my favorite books in the whole world. I am currently on the fourth book. I am love remembering all the things that the movies left out. I am racing my friend Wes to see who can finish the series first. He was on the fourth book when I started...he's now on the fifth.

3. Brupper #4
For this night of the brupper club, we decided to make biscuits and gravy. We also had lots of jelly and veggie sausage too. The picture above is of Luke's creation: biscuit, jelly, and gravy. It is actually really good. I recommend trying it! We ended the night by watching Varsity Blues which had a lot more profanity and nakedness than we remembered. Oops.

4. Brupper #5
The next week we had a special brupper because James was back from being a counselor at a summer camp. We had to have a huge brupper even though he had just had his wisdom teeth out. We made cinnamon rolls (orange and cream cheese icing) and then the usual of Luke's eggs, veggie sausage patties, and strawberries. We then tried to play things, but ended up just talking and catching up.

5. I got bored and took fun flower pictures.
The title pretty much explains it.

6. I went to College Station!
I was so lucky to be able to go back and visit cstat one last time before I move to Alaska. I got to see lots of friends and spend time with those I will miss a ton. I got spoons with Katie (duh), ate dinner at La Bodega, went out on Northgate, ate some Antonio's, hung out with all my favorite PC '07 girls, and just had a blast. I miss it so much, but not as much as my friends that are all still there.

7. We had an ice cream sundae party at my house.
A group of my friends and I had an ice cream party at my house. We also worked on a puzzle. Exciting? Yes, I think so.

It has been an eventful few weeks and I am slowly counting down the days until I leave for Alaska...23 days. I leave you with this fun picture I took...

Shenanigans at the Splash

I am a lead lifeguard this summer at The Splash and basically as a lead, I get yelled at/complained to/chewed out by everyone. The patrons, the lifeguards, and even the other leads. It is still the best summer job you could ever have and there is always funny stuff going on. This summer has already been eventful so I thought I would highlight some of the best memories from the Splash...

1. "That's slouchy!"
A young male who had his hair done like Predator decided that is was "slouchy" of his friend to go say hi to his uncle. I was initially confused because his friend seemed to have almost perfect posture. Maggie was sitting with me and she asked the lovely young man what slouchy meant. The boy responded by yelling at Maggie and stuffing a cheese and peanut butter cracker in his mouth which resulted in a shower of cracker crumbs on Maggie...to say the least, she was disgusted, but we got a fun new word to add to our vocabulary.

2. Attack of the bees
Swarms of bees have decided that they LOVE the Splash. As much as I hate bees, they chose the right place because NO ONE AT THE SPLASH CLEANS UP AFTER THEMSELVES. The bees have a 12 course meal to enjoy by the time we close: ring pops, coke, sour punch straws, chips, m&m's, and whatever else people decide to bring to the pool that day. We have had several interactions with well over a hundred bees. Needless to say, we are all terrified of them and create a scene whenever one comes near.

3. Being chewed out by a 78 year old man
This is definitely the highlight of my summer. I had an old man yell and get in my face the other day. He refused to pay the $4 to get in because he wasn't swimming. In his words and I quote him directly, "I ain't paying that blankity blank capacity fee." Yes, he did say blankity blank. He decided to throw a HUGE fit over $4. I mean come on, its $4. It's been like this for four years. Oh wait, every single person who complains about this says we just changed it. News flash...IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN LIKE THAT.

4. Boogie
There is a group of five brothers who come to the pool every day. They are what we lifeguards call "pool rats." My favorite pool rat is Boogie. He is 6 years old and the cutest kid you will ever talk to. The dynamics of this family are interesting. I have finally figured their family tree out, but it took talking to several of the brothers. Their names are Darrell, Devon, Cameron, Damen (Boogie), and Baby Joe.

5. Thunderstorms
Normally you would think that we work at a pool so we would hate thunderstorms, but it is quite the opposite. WE LOVE THEM. When it thunders or lightnings, we get out of the pool for at least 30 minutes. I have literally sat at work for well over 3 hours doing nothing and getting paid for it. I love it.

and finally...

6. The special people who come to The Splash
There are no words to describe the high class people that come to the Splash. I wish I had pictures, but I have yet been able to sneak any. We have anything at the pool from old couples making out to a toddler wanting to fight a preteen to parents who think their children can do no wrong. It always makes for an eventful day at the Splash. I will try and get pictures for another post.

Just a little something to make your day better...

I got a graduation card in the mail yesterday from one of my good friends and it had a perfect quote on it so I thought I would share it.

"To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Emerson
